Rates of under $200 for prime holiday season in New York City? Unheard of! And yet, Vacationist has rooms at the Ace Hotel, one of the city’s buzziest hotels, right in Manhattan’s Flatiron District. Or escape the hustle and bustle at Richard Gere and wife Carey Lowell’s cozy winter hideaway, 45 minutes north in Bedford New York. Another option: leave the States behind in favor of Bahia Del Sol Beach Front Hotel, Costa Rica, where 28 rooms open onto private decks with hammocks, and the ocean is warm enough for swimming all year long.

Ace Hotel New York – up to 29% off
New York, New York

Just as the Ace arrived on the northern edge of Manhattan's Flatiron District, its host neighborhood was being named by critics and real estate agents: NoMad, or "North of Madison Park." Taking over a once seedy hotel from the early 1900s, the Breslin, Ace New York brought in downtown edge with 260 modern and masculine spacious rooms, paying tribute to the area with its own "outside-the-box" cool: guest bathrobes are "boxing robes" (the basement used to be a boxing ring); closets are simply garment racks (homage to the nearby Garment District), and the restaurant honors the former hotel with its name, Breslin. Modern charm is redefined in the most unconventional way: rooms are equipped with Gibson guitars, full-size Smeg refrigerators, and turntables. (Sale ends in 4 days.)

Bedford Post Inn – up to 35% off
Bedford, New York

When Richard Gere and his wife, Carey Lowell, decided to try their hand at the hotel business, some might have expected a flashy, over-the-top scene fit for the Hollywood Hills. Instead, the longtime Westchester residents opened an elegant eight-room inn that pays homage to its rural surroundings. The 14-acre retreat has interiors built from reclaimed wood and a farm-to-table restaurant that serves seasonal fare such as cappelletti en brodo, a pea-filled pasta with porcini mushrooms, ramps, and Parmigiano. Rooms have working fireplaces and antique claw-foot tubs, but there's plenty to lure guests to public spaces: in addition to freshly baked pastries served in the restaurant each morning, weekend guests enjoy a complimentary wine and cheese hour, with wines hand-selected by the property's sommelier. (Sale ends in 5 days.)

Bahia Del Sol Beach Front Hotel & Suites - up to 26% off
Santa Cruz, Costa Rica

This beachfront resort has everything you'd expect from a Caribbean-style getaway: a huge swim-up bar, candlelit tables under palm trees, thatched palapa roofs, rooms with ceiling fans and pastel-hued walls, and of course a sandy swimming beach. But it's the little Costa Rican influences that make this tucked-away hotel special—mainly, the smiles on the family-like staff and their non-jaded, helpful attitudes. Four of the 28 rooms come with Jacuzzis on their private patios, and all come with hammocks, air-conditioning, cable TV, and Wi-Fi. You're also just a few minutes away from Flamingo Beach and Prieta Beach, and you can meander on foot from the hotel to nearby villages and marketplaces. (Sale ends in 4 days.)
