New iPhone App Helps Users Spot Celebs in LA
If you follow Carry On at all, you might know by now that two of my favorite things in life are reading up on celebrities and Los Angeles. If you share similar interests, you might be want to take a look at this new iPhone app: Celebrity Star Maps.
Released on December 7 by B/C Interactive, this app is a key to all things celeb—well, when visiting LA, anyway. (As an aside, I have to admit: while my fascination with celebs runs pretty deep, I prefer my sightings to be more organic. I much rather the I-just-happened-to-be-there spotting. It just seems a little more real to me.)
But if the celebrity bus tour business is any indication—and it is: just Google "Los Angeles celeb bus tour" and take a look at the number of results the search engine—there are plenty of people who would much rather go straight to the source: celebrities' homes.
The Celebrity Star Maps app cuts out the middleman (read: the bus tour company), guiding people to celeb homes via GPS navigation. (So yes, you will need some sort of transportation.) Beyond pinpointing star homes, the app also provides aerial views—so you can see just how big the mansion you're standing in front of really is. But if you're not quite looking to go celeb house-hopping, the app also features a directory of hotspots prime for star-spotting, as well as celeb bios. (Hey, if you're lucky enough to run into one, you better know why they're famous!)
You can download the app for $4.99 at the iTunes store. (The price pales in comparison to the cost of a bus tour. While some of the cheaper ones cost about $25, the bigger tours can run you in excess of $100 per person.)
