"Housewives" Love Kodak's New Online Gallery

A couple weeks ago I attended a reception celebrating the relaunch of the new Kodak Gallery, the film company's online service that allows members to store, organize, and print photos. Now, let me first say that my interest in attending this event was piqued by my fascination with reality television. (I know, I know...) See, the host of the event was none other than Jill Zarin, one of the Real Housewives of New York City stars.

Pitter patter went my heart. And then I watched as others from the New York City cast showed up. Then my heart stopped. I'm not even going to go into details when I saw that Bravo was there filming for an upcoming episode.

Okay, back to the point: the new Kodak Gallery. While the celeb factor drew me in, I have to admit, the website is pretty cool. The site's functionality has dramatically increased, so once you get back from, oh say, a weeklong safari in Kenya, you can satisfy that urge to share/brag about your experience with the online world much faster. The site's upload speed was increased threefold; customizable slideshows were added; a new, streamlined image organizer was built.

There are a few other perks, but I think the best feature is that Kodak now stores uploaded images as high resolution photos. What does this mean? When you order prints of your travel pics (prices were dropped to $.09 per 4x6 print) the quality will be much crisper and clearer.

You can also have your images printed on a number of objects, including puzzles, postcards, and mugs. Now, while I'm not a fan of printing people's faces on, well, anything that isn't a photograph, I must say: this is, hands down, my new favorite mug (above).
