So many elements go into an ideal golf vacation. Above all, the courses must be exhilarating and the accommodations first-rate. But there are also less obvious aspects of the experience: skilled and engaging caddies, a state-of-the-art practice complex, a lively clubhouse bar stocked with history as well as craft beers and single malts. In our annual reader survey, we sought your discerning opinions not only on which resorts are the game’s finest destinations but also on which ones excel at these and other details.
For the second year in a row (and the third time in the last four years), Pinehurst Resort won top honors in the United States. The resorts that make up the top five—a group that also includes Kiawah Island, Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes and Kapalua—remained the same for the third consecutive year (though in slightly different order). The lone newcomer to the top ten is Reynolds Plantation, the ninety-nine-hole lakefront resort and residential community in Georgia. Overall, we received thousands of votes on hundreds of properties throughout North and Central America and across the British Isles, and here are the results.
