Traveling to Istanbul by air
Of the two local airports, Atatürk International is by far the most pleasant, with many daily direct flights from major European cities—plus it’s only 15 minutes’ drive from the city center. Avoid Sabiha Gökçen airport if you can; though flights arriving here can be cheaper, you’ll make up the savings with a long, unpleasant, and expensive cab ride into the city.
