Taking the Metro in Athens
If you can take the Athens Metro to get to your destination, do. It’s new, clean, cheap (less than a dollar per ticket), and easy to use. Multilingual ticket machines sell you the ticket; stick it in the validating machine to be punched and keep it in case law-enforcement officials check tickets on the train. All signs and announcements are in English as well as Greek. Newer train cars are air-conditioned.
