Tauck Tours -it isnt what it used to be

There is a reason that Tauck tours has dropped dramatically in Travel and Leisures latest poll. They are just not the same company. Their management, customer service and guides have all been disappointments this year.
If you are interested in one of their trips, make sure you ask all the questions you want, and get full answers. Their marketing and web site is terrific, but what you see is not always what you get. They do stay at superior hotels, but there is more to seeing /experiencing a place than just the hotel you sleep in. Some of the hotels are also just used by Tauck in off seasons, and are not open to the general public.

  • Tauck Tour's still ranks one in our client satisfaction

As the largest seller of Tauck Tours in the United States we don't agree with your conclusion. We continually receive notes and have conversations with clients who only have positive comments about Tauck. In fact we have more client referrals to Tauck than any other tour company we sell. http://www.cheapertravel.com is our website that features Tauck.

  • I can't let the negative comments about Tauck go by

My husband and I have been with Tauck 3 times in the past year. Vietnam, Cambodia & Thailand, Italy, and Peru & Bolivia. The Tour Directors were all very professional, courteous, helpful, fun, informative, and bent over backwards to ensure that their guests were comfortable and enjoying their experience.

The hotels were top notch and the dining experiences that were included the very best.

In fact, we've enjoyed our experience with Tauck so much that we will be joining them aga... Read More

My wife and I have toured with Tauck 8 different times including Europe and Australia trips. Not once have we regretted a single penny we've paid. We find the professional Directors to be of highest quality, and as we book all of our trips through a travel agency, nothing could be easier. The educational, cultural, and "visual" highlights of all the tours we've taken have been without equal. Hotel accomodations have never let us down either. For those who have pushed and pulled luggage ... Read More

  • Response from Tauck

As an employee of Tauck, I’d like to take issue with this post and the implication that the change to Tauck’s ranking in Travel + Leisure’s annual list of the “World’s Best Tour Operators & Safari Outfitters” somehow indicates that our quality has slipped. We take guest satisfaction VERY seriously – we have tracked the T+L results since the survey’s debut in 1998, and we also survey every Tauck guest ourselves for their feedback at the conclusion of each tour, cruise and safari.

    Ever... Read More

Well I have to agree that booking with Tauck has been frustrating and disappointing to say the least. I have just paid my deposit for the Indian Potrait tour departing in March 2010 and its just been a litany of mistakes. I never even once got an apology. Disappointing despite all the glowing accolades. Of course it does not help that I am from the other side of the world. I can't even find an email to send my complaints to.

We took a Tauck tour to Australia and New Zealand with Tauck in 2008 and were disappointed. The hotels on the tour were great, but our Tour Director and Tauck's overall lack of customer service during the tour were unacceptable. The most shocking thing that happened on our trip was how the Tour Director got into an argument with a fellow passenger and cursed at this passenger (this was witnessed by a group of us). The fellow passenger said he did not want to report this to Tauck because he ... More

I reported it by mistake. I wanted to say that I agree with everyone says that Tauck is a great company
I am a Travel Agent for over 17 years, Tauck provided my customers great service again and again. Last month my last experience with them the customer had an emergency and had to cancel and he already in the penalty period, Tauck refunded the whole amount and saved them the insurance so they can use it for future trip. As for the other comments of the tour director , I don't know what ... More
