Buy native crafts that benefit the community
T+L contributing editor Shane Mitchell, an expert on artisan collectives, shares her recommendations: “I adore Tanda Zulu’s necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, made by artisans in South Africa, who are paid up to seven times the minimum wage. All profits go toward helping orphans in the region. India-based women’s collective Qilasaaz sells silk scarves embroidered in the centuries-old chikankari style, as well as handbags and kurtas. Or pick up beaded necklaces by designer Julio Pagliani (juliopagliani.com); they benefit Tarahumara Indians and mestizo families in Norogachi, Mexico.”

It might be interesting to bring a few native american jewelry items to give as gifts to the craftsman,or perhaps a gift of a american favorite toys, such as legos,
And so easy!
Good thing the YSL Safari trend is still in full swing. What a lovely way to be responsible and chic.
