When to go to Portland
Overcast skies and steady rain make Portland a bit of a turnoff in winter, although temperatures do generally remain above freezing even during the coldest months. Unquestionably, Portland enjoys the best weather from late spring through early fall, with July through September especially dry, sunny, and cool. The summer months are also when the majority of the city’s big events take place—including the Portland Rose Festival (www.rosefestival.org) and the Waterfront Blues Festival (www.waterfrontbluesfest.com).
