Taxis and shuttles on Nantucket
Somewhat amazingly, taxicabs are available around the clock on Nantucket (at least during the high season). You can hail cabs on the street in Nantucket Town (there’s also an unofficial taxi stand right in front of the Club Car restaurant), but once off the main drag you’ll need to phone for one. Of the various on-island operators, A-1 Taxi (508-228-3330) is the quickest and most dependable; a ride from town to the airport costs about $15. A cheaper option is to take the NRTA shuttle, which runs minibus routes all over the island, every 20 minutes or so, for $2 or less (www.shuttlenantucket.com).
