When to Go to Nantucket

High season comes a little later on Nantucket than it does on mainland Cape Cod. Because the weather can be cold and foggy here even into the summer, crowds (and hotel rates) don’t spike until late June. Most of the summer throngs leave after Labor Day—but savvy folks stick around for September and October, the two clearest, crispest, most beautiful months on the island. Plenty of intrepid folks make the trek to the island in winter, too; Nantucket Town gets all decked out in lights and holly during the Christmas Stroll.
