How to get to Maine

Portland is 100 miles north of Boston and 300 miles from New York City. By plane: Portland International Jetport (PWM) and Bangor International Airport (BGR) are the two largest airports in Maine (www.portlandjetport.org; www.flybangor.com) By train: Amtrak’s “Downeaster” train departs Boston’s North Station and makes eight stops en route to its final destination in Portland; the trip takes two hours (www.amtrakdowneaster.com) By boat: High-speed CAT (cap. 775) makes trips from Portland (six hours) and Bangor (three hours) to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
