The Underground and bus in London

The fastest and cheapest way to get around central London is by the Underground (a.k.a. tube) or bus (www.tfl.gov.uk). London is a zone city; one and two cover the city center. Buy an Oyster card for $6 (at tube stations or shops with the Oyster sticker), and load up to $180 cash on it: a one-day Oyster card for the tube, bus network, and overground trains costs $10 compared with a frightening $8 for a one-way tube trip without an Oyster card. Buy one online before you travel at www.visitbritaindirect.com.
