Taxis in Jamaica

Officially licensed taxis can be found in front of most hotels; otherwise have the front desk call a cab. As with taxis at the airport (have a uniformed attendant hail you one), there are no meters and the rate should be negotiated before you get into the cab. Avoid hailing unlicensed taxis; when in doubt, find the nearest hotel. Those from the Jamaican United Travellers’ Association (JUTA) are always a safe bet.
