Getting around Houston by bike

Compared to other cities its size, Houston has done little in the way of providing well-marked bicycle lanes. Bicycling in the heart of town is difficult and hazardous. Even on “Bicycle Lane” posted streets, there is little or no community sense of sharing the road. Cycling is best enjoyed along residential streets, through downtown canyons in the evening, and on the weekend, on Rice University and University of Houston campuses, and especially in and around Memorial Park and Hermann Park.
