Getting to Houston from IAH or Hobby airports
Unlike most other major metropolitan areas, Houston has few options for reliable mass transportation from the airports to the center city. There are reasonably priced hotel shuttles and a door-to-door van service (Super Shuttle, 800-BLUE-VAN). Taxicabs are outrageously expensive (metered fares from Hobby to downtown destinations can run as high as $50; from IAH, $70). But all this is perhaps a moot point, since you will most likely need a car to get around in this sprawling city. Called the 30/30/30 service (a 30- minute, non-stop trip, leaving every 30 minutes, for just $30 round trip), the “METRO Airport Direct” provides transportation to and from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) Terminal C to downtown Houston (http://www.ridemetro.org/Services/airport_direct.aspx).
