Inter-Island air travel in the Bahamas

Bahamasair (http://up.bahamasair.com), the national carrier of the islands, runs the most comprehensive list of scheduled flights between Nassau/New Providence and the out islands (there are daily flights, for example, to Eleuthera/Harbour Island, The Exumas, and the Abacos, as well as less-touristed destinations like Cat Island and Long Island). Be warned, though—locals joke that Bahamasair is “a Christian airline—because God only knows when the flights will take off.” In other words, delays are common. Another, albeit more expensive option: traveling between islands by charter plane. There are lots of charter companies to choose from, but Southern Air (www.southernaircharter.com) is one of the most reliable.
