Taking a trip to New Zealand may sound like an exhausting and lengthy endeavor—one best saved for epic, bucket list adventures—but director James Cameron (of the blockbuster hit Avatar) says it’s actually pretty easy.

“I could go to New Zealand for a meeting and come back, and not feel that disrupted,” Cameron told Travel + Leisure in an intimate interview.

As he explains it, a flight to New Zealand is lengthy enough for you to get a full night’s sleep—especially if you opt for a business class lie-flat bed. You hop onboard a plane and fly (from Los Angeles, at least) for 13 hours, eat dinner, watch a movie, and go to sleep. When you wake up, you enjoy a light breakfast and you’re ready to start your day.

Cameron’s hypothesis that the shift isn’t as troublesome “because most of your travel is latitude, not longitude.” Upon arrival, Cameron feels well rested and perfectly adjusted.

The flight to Europe—Paris or London, on the other hand—is a real challenge for Cameron. While the trip takes half the time, you can’t get a full night’s sleep and you still hop a handful of time zones.

Some people will argue that there’s actually an upside to getting jet lag. But if you, like Cameron, have important business to attend to the second you pick up your bags from the carousel, there are a handful of jet lag cures (seven, to be specific) to help you get on track.
