World's Strangest Sports

Footvolley, Brazil

This no-hands version of volleyball combines the fast pace of beach volleyball with the ball-touch rules of soccer. Points are scored when a player kicks the ball over the seven-foot-tall net to land in the opponents’ court. Created in the mid 1960’s, it became a popular sport for vacationing Brazilian soccer stars like striker Romário de Souza Faria and Edmundo Alves de Souza Neto.
