No. 21 Anse Chastanet Resort St. Lucia

26 of 51

Score: 94.78

Russian-Canadian architect Nick Troubetzkoy designed this 49-open-air-room resort along Soufrière’s tropical hillside, above a volcanic sand beach. Within each eco-friendly Sanctuary suite—some with the fourth wall removed—warm trade winds obviate the need for air-conditioning, just as panoramic Piton views make it clear why TVs were never installed. And some of St. Lucia’s top underwater sites are just a few fin kicks (or a short boat ride) from the water’s edge.
