The Gothic spires of this imposing 15th-century building on Brussels’ Grand Place get downright whimsical at holiday time. Every night during the month of December, an extravagant music-accompanied light show engulfs the Town Hall façade, which overlooks the city’s famed Christmas market. When illuminated, the arched windows, colonnades, and towers resemble nothing so much as candles on a gargantuan birthday cake (perhaps for Liberace).
