Wilensky’s Light Lunch
From the May 2008 Food & Wine Go List
This quirkily named spot is one of Montreal’s last great time-warp classics, a luncheonette that has hardly changed since 1932 and whose principal raison d’être is the Wilensky Special, a grilled bologna and salami sandwich with mustard. Although predictable-sounding on paper, the sandwich is mysteriously phenomenal. Movie buffs and Mordecai Richler fanatics: Yes, the Oscar-nominated film The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz was filmed here.
We loved: Wilensky Special topped with Kraft American cheese.
