Tawfik Shehata is one of a new breed of young chefs reflecting multiethnic Canada: He’s an Egyptian who cooks Southern Italian–focused Mediterranean food in upscale Financial District surroundings. A clientele of young, adventurous Bay Street bankers appreciates the stately room, with its billowing red ceiling hangings. And the deep wine list is worthy of power lunches.
We loved: Red-wine-grilled octopus with Moroccan sun-dried olives and fingerling potatoes.
