“Upscale with a kick” is one way to describe this Dongzhimenwai neighborhood restaurant, which opened in 2003 and is one of many locations throughout China. The "upscale" comes from the bright 350-seat dining room, with back-lit glass floors and an open kitchen, all accented by shades of gold and green. The "kick," on the other hand, refers to the Sichuan cuisine and specialty dishes like dan dan mian (noodles and vegetables in a spicy sauce) and spicy stone grilled beef, which is cooked table-side. The long menu contains numerous photos and innovative options, such as smoked chicken served with fragrant tea.
Insider Tip:
Subway lines two and 14 run through the Dongzhimen subway station, which is on the same block as the restaurant.
