Serious Pie
Around the corner from chef-impresario Tom Douglas's flagship restaurant, Dahlia Lounge, is his more casual Serious Pie, known for its thin-crust, applewood-fired pizza. In the crowded, pub-like dining room, artisan pies arrive at private and family-style tables in oblong shapes sized for sharing. Selections include Penn Cove clams with house-cured pancetta, though the traditional pie with house-made mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes is the most popular. Italian wines, a good selection of beer and hard cider, plus local Big E root beer are available.
Insider Tip:
For the best selection at the most reasonable prices, visit during the weekday happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m., when there’s a full assortment of pizzas available as mini-pies.
