Rome

Retro Zerodue

172-178 Viale dei Colli Portuensi
Rome, Italy
TEL: 39-6-5327-3530

Located in the Monteverde district, this trendy restaurant combines a 50’s-inspired design (white tile walls and retro kitchen appliances, including an old-fashioned refrigerator) with contemporary touches like marble-top tables and colorful striped light fixtures. The menu, however, is strictly old-school, featuring traditional Roman and Laziale recipes that are both simple and sophisticated. Entrées such as the grilled lamb with artichoke and the spaghetti with sardines and pecorino are followed by desserts like the popular granita al cacao—a semi-frozen chocolate dish topped with whipped cream.

Insider Tip:

The space is small and often busy, so make sure to request a table out of the way of the kitchen, where heavy foot traffic creates a more chaotic atmosphere.
