From the menus on vintage metal clipboards to the cash register—which says, “You’re Pretty”—attention to detail is paramount at this sweet breakfast and lunch spot that opened in 2007. It resides in a spruced-up 1914 Craftsman-style house (ancient by Phoenix standards) with shiny wood floors and big windows. In fine weather, the best seats are outside on the porch and the brick patio at a huge, round marble-topped table or in an overstuffed chair. The food is equally impressive—particularly the roasted sweet potato pancakes or the caramelized onion tart topped with bacon. Baked goods change daily, but you might spy a plate of Oreo scones.

Tip: Visit the little shop in back run by Willows, a home-furnishings store in town. Suitcase-friendly items for sale include T-shirts with messages like “Motherhood Is for Sissies” and whimsical toys like Marc Vidal French chalk and crayons.
