Mr. Chow
The second outpost of this famed Beijing eatery—owned by artist and Renaissance man Michael Chow—actually lives up to the hype. Chow’s menu titillates the palate rather than fills the stomach; small plates like diced squab in crisp lettuce cups, pork-and-crab dumplings, and house-made noodles served with minced chicken and red bean sauce are delicious. If you’re feeling adventurous, do as the attentive, suit-wearing servers recommend and go for the special prix fixe menu.
Tip: Don’t leave the neighborhood once you settle your bill. At lunchtime the shop-lined streets of Beverly Hills are full of stiletto-wearing shoppers, agents, and the paparazzi; at night, a stroll around quiet Rodeo Drive is a treat.
