Inside this old East End pub, the wildly campy Victoriana décor (a stuffed tiger greets you at the entrance), handbags suspended from the ceilings, ornate tiles, and engraved mirrors are almost as memorable as the food. From a delicate amuse-bouche (a shot glass of silky pumpkin foam) to sublime lamb with braised artichokes and Jersey royal potatoes and braised pork belly with mustard jus, each course is a delight. It’s steep, but the discreet, efficient service makes the foray east well worth it.

Insider Tip: The three-course prix fixe menu (available Monday–Wednesday) is much more reasonable.
