5th Arrondissement (Latin Quarter)
Le Coupe Chou
Almost hidden on a cobblestone side street in the Latin Quarter lies Le Coupe-Chou with a facade overgrown with ivy. Since 1962, this non-touristy oasis has served traditional French fare in a medieval setting of stone walls, brick floors, and exposed wood beams. A giant hearth commands attention in one of several cozy, dimly lit dining rooms and reinforces the restaurant's Old Paris theme. Dishes of lotte a la provençale (monkfish) and carré d'agneau a la menthe fraiche (rack of lamb with mint) are favorites.
Insider Tip:
Reservations are recommended, especially in the colder months when the fireplaces are roaring and candlelight illuminates the labyrinth of dining rooms.
