For four decades, this comfort-food canteen has been a hangout for the city’s intellectual set. Maître d’ Charbel doubles as the Gemayzeh area’s jack-of-all-trades: He can do anything from finding people apartments to selling them cars. There are no delicately plated dishes here, just big portions of homestyle Lebanese food.
We loved: Moulakhiyeh, a garlicky spinach-and-chicken stew.
