Houston
Irma's
Just down the street from Minute Maid Park, this restaurant is a lunchtime favorite for downtown business folks. Knickknacks like plastic dolls and little teacups are fastened to the walls of the kitschy dining room, where customers can settle in for authentic, homemade Mexican eats. One thing you won’t find at chef-owner Irma Galvan’s restaurant is a menu. Servers quickly seat you before offering a run down of the day’s offerings, which include classics like enchiladas, fajitas and mashed-to-order guacamole. The freshly made strawberry lemonade is a refreshing addition to any meal.
Insider Tip:
Although typically open for just lunch and breakfast, Irma’s stays open until 7 p.m. when the Astros are in town.
