Mission District
Foreign Cinema
San Francisco, CA, 94110, United States
Better than stale popcorn, the Foreign Cinema in the Mission serves up a full oyster bar and California/Mediterranean-influenced dishes with the movie. Enjoy a meal in the dining room or move to the outdoor patio with a movie screened on the high brick wall. Features include foreign and indie films such as Man of Iron and Shadow of the Vampire. While the menu and wine list change daily, some fine choices include the fruits de mer—oysters, clams, crab, and crayfish with four dipping sauces—or the herb-crusted chicken with garlic mashed potatoes.
Insider Tip:
For after-show drinks, try the adjacent bar Laszlo, run by Foreign Cinema-owners Gayle Pirie and John Clark. It boasts a DJ after 9:00 p.m. and such innovative cocktails as the Little Sputnik: rum, spicy ginger beer, and lime.
