Lower East Side
Doughnut Plant, New York
New York, NY, 10002, United States
Mark Isreal has been turning out what can only be described as craft doughnuts from this trendy, Lower East Side locale since 1994, but the basic recipes he used to put the Doughnut Plant on the map share a history that stretches all the way back to 1910, when Mark's grandfather, Herman, baked for the Army while stationed in Paris during World War I. The yeast-raised doughnuts are as moist and tasty as they are aesthetically appealing. The crème brûlée doughnut, with torched sugar on the outside and a vanilla bean ice cream filling, is a pastry triumph in its own right!
Insider Tip:
Pair your doughnut selection with a well-crafted chai tea latte (made with Ronnybrook unhomogenized whole milk) for a delightful blend of flavors and textures.
