Manhattan
Blue Smoke
Neon signs advertising Blue Smoke’s specialties—barbecue and jazz—mark the entrance of this bustling, roadhouse-style eatery in the Flatiron district. Inside, exposed brick walls and red vinyl booths are illuminated by star-shaped light fixtures, large windows, and slanted skylights. In addition to popular entrées like the pulled pork and salt-and-pepper beef ribs, chef Kenny Callaghan also prepares reinvented sides such as sweet potato wedges with maple dip. The bar serves more than 30 well-priced bourbons, while the in-house Bake Shop sells homemade pies and cupcakes. Downstairs, the Jazz Standard bar hosts live music ranging from classic jazz to funk.
Insider Tip:
In addition to housing the award-winning Jazz Standard, Blue Smoke is also just a five-minute walk from the Gramercy Theatre, making it an excellent choice for pre-show dining.
