AZ/88 opened in Old Town Scottsdale in 1988 as a café and watering hole with casual bar food and drinks and late-night dancing. Burgers and the signature grilled chicken sandwich are big with customers because of their size (more than half a pound of sirloin or chicken breast). Customers can split the serving into two baskets with extra sides for just $3 more, making it a budget-friendly meal. Martinis arrive in oversized glasses, and DJs produce high-energy music (mostly electronica and vintage rock) Wednesday through Saturday evenings drawing in late-night dance crowds.
