New Orleans
Antoine's Restaurant
New Orleans, LA, 70130, United States
Serving traditional French-Creole fare in the Quarter since 1840, Antoine’s is the country’s oldest family-run restaurant. The 14 dining rooms accommodate more than 700 guests, and each space is unique in style, from the green and gold Rex Room, adorned with Mardi Gras memorabilia, to the whimsical Escargot Room, where the outline of a large snail is rendered on wood-paneled walls. Countless VIP’s, including Pope John Paul II and former President Franklin Roosevelt, visited over the years to enjoy signature dishes such as oysters Rockefeller and eggs Sardou, both invented at Antoine’s. The football-sized baked Alaska is also a must.
Insider Tip:
If the restaurant isn’t overly busy, ask your server for a tour of the dining rooms and the multimillion-dollar wine collection, housed in a 165-foot cellar with a 25,000-bottle capacity.
