Alfred
Facing the 17th-century Théâtre du Palais Royal, this 30-seat bistro is just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. Beveled mirrors, faux leather banquettes, and crisp white linens evoke the 1930’s. Former politician turned chef William Abitbol focuses on seasonal ingredients in his straightforward preparations. In the upstairs dining room, meat or fish entrees (ham, mackerel, and beef tenderloin) are accompanied by seasonal vegetables like green tomatoes and potatoes. Downstairs in the stone cellar, there is a zinc bar serving small plates. Alfred’s wine list pays homage to France’s small vineyards and producers.
Insider Tip:
When in season, don’t miss the dessert plate of wild strawberries with virgin olive oil and basil ice cream.
