Want to nix that feeling of jetlag following your long flight in to Thailand? Head straight to one of Bangkok’s myriad of yoga classes for a few deep stretches and some peaceful meditation. Vacation may be a time to relax and unwind, but trust me, both your mind and body will thank you if you kick off your visit with a quick trip to the studio. Whether you’re an experienced yogi, or relatively new to the practice, this city has classes to meet every fitness level. Studios have even started offering trendy hot and aerial yoga in recent years to keep up with demand. New students and drop-ins are welcome at each of the following English-speaking studios, and you can expect to pay around 650 Baht ($20) for a one-off class. Many studios offer deep discounts to first-time participants, so be sure to ask about any promotions when you reserve your spot on the mat.

Yoga Elements Studio

Founded by yoga guru Adrian Phillip Cox, Yoga Elements is one of Bangkok’s most sought-after studios. Five class types are offered here, and almost all of them are structured based on experience and comfort level. Book a class around sunset for stunning views from the vantage point of your backbend or downward-facing dog. 

Absolute Yoga

Thailand’s first hot yoga studio will get your heart rate pumping with their signature Absolute Fit class. It’s a mix of yoga and cardio, and it will challenge even serious yogis. The main branch in Silom offers more than 50 classes per week—check its website for up-to-date schedules, and call one day in advance to reserve your mat. 

Lullaby Yoga

Schedules at the two Lullaby Yoga studios in Bangkok are not as robust as other studios on this list, but class sizes are smaller, giving students and English-speaking teachers more one-on-one time. Four types of yoga are offered here, including pre-natal classes. Discounts for new students are available, so be sure to ask upon registration. 

Divine Yoga

With several yoga masters on staff, Divine offers more than 60 classes per week, including instruction in vinyasa, power, and hatha yoga. Private lessons are available, as are classes for children. If you’d prefer to vary your workout routine over the course of your trip, the studio also teaches Zumba, Bollywood, and belly dance classes.          

Yoga Fly at Pilates Station

Take your practice off the mat with the Yoga Fly (or Body Fly) class at Pilates Station. Aerial exercises are performed while suspended in a soft hammock, which allows for modifications in difficult poses, and puts limited pressure on your joints. Class sizes are small, so reserve your spot online in advance.
