Owners Michael Benyan and Mark Sainsbury describe their affordable, irreverent spot as “a modern-day urban inn.” Housed in a 19th-century former warehouse in über-fashionable Clerkenwell, the building has 59 stylishly retro rooms and an excellent sceney restaurant and bar on the ground floor. Smart touches such as wallpaper art and designer chairs add glamour to the large rooms, while perks include Elemis bath products, hot water bottles, books to borrow, and 4,000 digital music tracks. Beds are dreamily comfortable, and recycled materials compose the bathrooms, with their walk-in “Raindance” showers; the hotel’s own well provides the water.
