W Montreal

Montreal’s reputation as a city of style is getting another boost with the newly minted W Montreal. Housed in a formerly lackluster bank building on the border of historic Old Montreal, the hotel is a haven of singular design. The 152 rooms are kitted out with “peek-a-boo” bathrooms and glowing bedside tables. The three 1,000-square-foot Extreme WOW suites (note the skylight in one of the bathrooms) are already overbooked by visiting celebrities like Bruce Willis and Josh Hartnett. The colossal lobby, with two waterfalls and splashes of glossy red furniture, leads to a mezzanine drinking lounge, chef Franco Gioffre’s Italian-fusion Otto restaurant, and Wunderbar, a space where out-of-towners can hobnob with the fashionable locals who line up nightly at the luminous acrylic bar.
