Solage Calistoga
Hip, modern, and family-friendly, Solage (opened in 2007 by Auberge Resorts—the same group behind Auberge du Soleil and Calistoga Ranch) has a laid-back ease that appeals to a wide spectrum of guests. Young city dwellers appreciate the property’s 89 “studio” rooms, each of which evokes a high-ceilinged urban loft (and comes with cool extras like pebble-floored showers, iPod docking stations, and locally roasted coffee). Visitors with kids can take advantage of the special children’s pool and free bicycles for cruising downtown. And hedonists can languish in the 20,000-square-foot spa for lava-and-sea-salt body scrubs and oxygen facials. (Even overindulgent eaters and tipplers can repent here for their sins; the swanky on-site fitness center opens each day at 5 a.m.)
Room to Book: The Mira studios, which are set among mature oaks just a hot stone’s throw from the spa.
