The Ritz, London
London, England, United Kingdom
TEL: (877) 748-9536
Designed in a French-chateau style and opened in 1906, The Ritz London neighbors Green Park and Buckingham Palace. White-gloved doormen usher guests into the grandiose lobby. All rooms, from the queen-bed singles to the marble-clad suites, have fireplaces and are decorated in Louis-XVI style. The Ritz colors — soft tones of yellow, blue, peach, and pink — recur in each, while higher-end suites have period furnishings and gilded moldings. Besides unpacking luggage, hotel staff provides an evening turn-down service and complimentary shoeshines. Guests can dine on British cuisine at the posh Ritz Restaurant, or sip champagne in The Palm Court tearoom.
Room to Book:
Although all rooms have triple-glazed windows, request one away from traffic-heavy Piccadilly.
Insider Tip:
The Rivoli Bar, the Ritz’s Art Deco cocktail lounge, has relaxed its men’s formal dress code. It’s now acceptable to wear smart jeans and a jacket, but dress shoes are still required.
