Resembling a grand country estate, the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay is set on a rocky bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Spread across the main building and several adjacent guesthouses, the 261 rooms contain marble soaking tubs, Egyptian cotton linens, and large picture windows, some overlooking the ocean. Select rooms also have private fire pits, and the hotel provides gourmet s’more kits for a fee. Two championship golf courses dominate the landscaped grounds, which also include six tennis courts and a 16,000-square-foot spa. The Navio restaurant serves locally inspired cuisine, while the Eno wine bar provides tasting flights with chocolate pairings.

The guesthouse rooms are pricier than those in the main building, but the free parking and secluded atmosphere make them well worth the extra cost.
