Set on a precipice 100 feet above the Indian Ocean, this unique Indonesian island retreat quite literally rises above other Jimbaran Bay resorts. But it’s not just the cliff-top location that sets it apart: the dramatic setting, on more than 190 palm-filled acres, is dotted with tennis courts, an 18-hole putting course, and a dozen restaurants—plus four freshwater pools, a private slice of beach (accessed by an elevator set into the mountain), and 368 traditional rooms and villas. The property’s strongest selling point, however, is its Thermes Marins spa, which has the world’s largest Aquatonic seawater pool; 12 different jet-streamed hydromassage stations push swimmers through the water, resulting in serious muscle relaxation. Depending on whom you ask, the one downside is the resort’s remote location (nothing is within walking distance)—but others consider this a trump card.
