The 10 exceptionally tranquil rooms at this year-old boutique hotel offer outstanding value for the amenities and location: a vine-covered alley off antiques thoroughfare Via dei Coronari. Contemporary interiors employ clean lines, a stylish palette of rich brown, cool green, and burnt orange (think West Elm meets Caravaggio), and tasteful splashes of bold Asian-inspired wallpaper. All rooms have mod cons like flat-screen satellite TV, AC, mini-bar, coffeemaker, and Wi-Fi. Palazzo Taverna may not get a lot of sunlight, but it doesn’t get much noise either. As with many boutique inns in Rome, there are no common areas, and breakfast is served en suite. The staff at the small reception area is responsive and friendly but unobtrusive.
Room to Book: Bright and colorful room 202, which can be booked as a triple or very spacious double, has a great little loft area and the most comfortable layout of all the rooms.
