St. Tropez

Pastis Hôtel-St. Tropez

61 Avenue du Général Leclerc
St. Tropez, France
TEL: 33-4-98-12-56-50

Like the property in the similarly titled 1994 book Hotel Pastis (whose author, Peter Mayle, drops by on occasion), Pastis’s owners are transplanted Brits—and there’s no shortage of Anglo style on display to prove it. With their eclectic Provence-by-way-of-London aesthetic, retail designers John and Pauline Larkin aim to make guests feel as if they are staying in a private house. Mies daybeds mix with Indian rugs, Chinese armoires, and beds dressed in traditional Provençal boutis spreads. Off-white walls showcase Hockney and Lichtenstein prints, as well as framed Sex Pistols and Rolling Stones album covers that date back to the Larkins’ courtship. The furniture was scored at area flea markets or, in the case of the pewter bar in the lobby, custom-made.
