Palazzo Galletti
On the second floor of a Neoclassical palazzo near the Duomo, the nine-room Palazzo Galletti is classified as a “historic home B&B” and offers some of the best value accommodations in town. The airy rooms have 13-foot ceilings, travertine-clad bathrooms, and balconies overlooking courtyards or the historic Pergola theater. Unfussy classic furnishings complement the early 1800s frescoes in some rooms, while others mix modernist furnishings with Oriental rugs, contemporary paintings and sculptures, and flat-screen TVs. The 16th-century breakfast room has creamy vaults, white rustic chairs, and old stone sinks. Owner Francesca Cascino is usually on the premises. One notable downside: no elevator.
