Palais Coburg

Built atop the old walls of Vienna in the 1840’s, the former summer residence of Ferdinand von Saxe-Coburg-Gotha was turned into a hotel in 2003. The erstwhile palace is divided into 35 suites, each decorated in one of two styles: traditional (original moldings, grand swagged curtains) or contemporary (glass walls, angular furniture). The grounds make the hotel feel peaceful and removed, but all of Vienna’s top attractions—shopping, opera, museums—are just minutes away.
