Palacio Duhau, Park Hyatt Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires, Argentina
TEL: 54-11-5171-1234
This just-opened Park Hyatt redefines luxury in the Argentine capital. Originally built in 1934 by French architect León Dourge for the Duhau family, the hotel’s ironwork, crystal chandeliers, and gardens recall the Belle Époque. An underground walkway and gallery connect the Palacio and its 23 guest rooms to the newly built 142-room Posadas building. Ask for a room that overlooks the full-sensory garden, which changes colors, fragrances, and sounds with the seasons. Before dinner at the Duhau Restaurant, stop at the hotel’s Vinoteca. The sommelier and maître fromager will pair wines from among 3,500 bottles of Argentine vintages with the best regional cheeses. And in the indoor heated pool at the Ahín Spa, which takes its name from the language of the ancient Mapuche tribe of southern Argentina, 750 colored bulbs simulate the changing of light from dawn to dusk.
Room to Book: Park Deluxes in the Posadas Building overlook the courtyard gardens.
Doubles from $480.
Insider Tip:
The wine bar, Vinoteca, stocks dozens of hard-to-find Argentine bottlings and has a cave for farmstead cheeses.Amenities
